We reported last week that Metal Gear Solid 4 was outselling everything else in Japan by a pretty large margin. As to be expected, it also gave the Playstation 3 a significant boost in sales. Well, now that the initial week is over, those sales are dropping...a lot. Hit the jump.
Last week, the PS3 sold over 75,000 units, a significant boost from previous sales. This week, however, sales dropped all the way down to 20,336 units.
It was nice while it lasted, right?

It's bound to happen with such a big game as MGS4. I think most of the people who wanted it, already bought it. There's still going to be a lot more people who will buy it as time goes on, but as with any big game, it sells the best for the first few weeks/months, and then the sales drop considerably.
I know that whenever I finally get a PS3, I'm definitely going to buy it.
This was no surprise.
yeah, I knew it would sell good there, almost anything does that has a big name to it.
I wonder how much these MGS4 "weeks" are helping the PS3 around the world.
